Why do I have to pay a "Convenience Fee" in order to make payment through this site?

You are free to choose an alternative method of making payment. This website function is provided to  members and/or friends of FARR as a convenient payment channel. There are significant costs attendant to offering and maintaining its functionality. In order to accept credit card, debit card and eCheck payments online, we are required to establish merchant accounts, maintain a Secure Payment Site, meet Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) and pay fees associated with the acceptance of electronic payment through this site.
